Sara Wachter-Boettcher

CEO and founder

Sara founded Active Voice in 2020. Before that, she built her career in content design and UX, and is known for her work on ethics and responsibility in the tech industry. Her work in the field taught her the value of having hard conversations, and her training as a coach—including both team coaching and trauma-informed coaching—taught her how to have those conversations with candor, care, and self-awareness.

Before becoming a coach, Jen spent her career building and leading teams—most recently, scaling up the content strategy practice within a UX org from 5 to 25 people in a single year. Jen loves supporting the career growth of her reports and mentees, managing managers, and helping new managers establish a leadership style authentic to their values and core strengths. She's been with Active Voice since 2023.

What is the time commitment for this course?

This course is designed to take 10-12 hours of focused learning time. This includes time watching videos, completing self-reflection exercises, and practicing your skills with hands-on activities. We recommend a pace of about 2-3 hours per week for 3-6 weeks.

How long will I keep access to Team Up?

We guarantee access to the course materials for at least 1 year from the date of purchase.

(We won't revoke your account after that—as long as this course exists, you'll retain access. We just only guarantee the first year.)

Do I need to be a people manager to take this course?

Nope! All the concepts in this course can also be applied to informal leadership roles, such as practice or project leadership. However, some activities specifically call out people management skills, such as holding great 1:1s, leading career conversations, and increasing team safety. If you're not currently managing people, we recommend completing these sections anyway—so you're more prepared for whatever comes next in your career.

Can I get a certificate of completion at the end?

Yes, you’ll get a certificate of completion once you complete all sections of the course.
